A Beautiful City Wedding by Your Aberdeen Wedding Photographer

With Shelley and Cara celebrating their first anniversary this month, I couldn’t help but take a look back through their wedding gallery – and what a day was! Two brides, two dresses and one day packed full of love, laughs and the best energy.

The Perfect Build Up

One of the best things about photographing two brides is double the morning excitement! You could feel the mix of anticipation and nerves in the air, but there was so much love and support from their friends and family as they got ready. Hair, makeup, prosecco flowing, tunes on – it was all happening. I always say that the pre-ceremony hours are just as important as the rest of the day, and Shelley and Cara were surrounded by exactly the right people to keep everything relaxed and fun.

One of my favourite details was Shelley’s customised trainer laces, printed with their wedding date and names in gold – such a cool touch! Both brides each had their own distinct style, but their looks complemented each other perfectly.

A Magical Marischal Ceremony

Marischal College is undeniably one of the most striking ceremony venues in Aberdeen. The architecture is stunning with a granite backdrop, spires and the sheer scale of it in the city centre. But it’s not just about the grandeur – it still somehow feels intimate, and the natural light that pours through the high windows makes the ceremony space so bright.

The real highlight as their wedding photographer was seeing Shelley and Cara’s faces when they saw each other at the end of the aisle. That first look of pure joy between them was so lovely to see, and both brides being walked down the aisle made it even more special – you could just tell how excited they were to begin this next chapter together.

Wandering the Granite City

After the ceremony and some group shots with their friends and families, we took a bit of time for just the two of them as newlyweds. Aberdeen has loads of great little corners for portraits – we used reflections in nearby windows, the contrast of modern lines against the granite, and of course, the rainbow steps at Bon Accord. It was such a great pop of colour against the granite, providing such a fun and vibrant setting for their newlywed shots.

A Change of Scene at The Park Café

The reception was held at The Park Café in Hazlehead Park, and it was the perfect change of pace. After the formal venue style of Marischal College, stepping into this bright, modern space felt like such a natural progression to the day. Before heading in, we wandered the park for a few more golden-hour portraits. The natural light was beautiful and it gave them a quiet moment together before the celebrations kicked off!

One Year On

I can’t believe it’s already been a year – Shelley and Cara’s wedding was so much fun and so lovely to be a part of. Here’s to one year down with many more ahead!
