Amy & Steven | A Lovely Thainstone House Wedding
Amy and Steven’s wedding at Thainstone House on the 27th of July was such a special and joyful day. If you’ve never been to Thainstone House, it’s a stunning 18th-century mansion near Inverurie in Aberdeenshire that’s now a hotel. What makes it even better? It’s dog-friendly! I absolutely loved that Amy and Steven’s two spaniels, Benji and Ember, were part of the day. They weren’t just guests; they had starring roles in some of the sweetest moments.
Dogs, Confetti, and So Much Love
One of my favourite moments was during the confetti tunnel. Benji and Ember arrived just in time for this iconic part of the day, and the timing couldn’t have been more perfect. Amy and Steven walked through the confetti tunnel with them by their side, making for such a unique and heartwarming moment. Guests were cheering, petals were flying, and it was such a joyful scene.
The way Amy and Steven included Benji and Ember in their day was just lovely. It really showed how much their dogs mean to them, and it added an extra layer of personality to their photos. I always love when couples include their pets in their weddings. It makes everything feel so much more personal and fun.
A Personal Touch with Crazy Golf
In the afternoon, the guests were treated to some fantastic entertainment with Party Putt, a mini golf setup that was such a hit. What made it even better was the story behind it. Amy and Steven went crazy golfing on their first date, so having it as part of their wedding day was a beautiful nod to how their love story began.
Guests absolutely loved it! It brought everyone together, and I saw so many smiles and laughs as people gave it their best shot. I think this kind of personal touch is what makes a wedding truly unforgettable, not just for the couple but for their guests too.
A Kilt with a Romantic Surprise
Steven also had a surprise for Amy that added a lovely bit of romance to the day. He wore a kilt in the Rose of Aberdeen tartan, and it was absolutely beautiful. The tartan had a striking pink thread running through it, making it stand out and feel really unique.
Amy didn’t know which tartan Steven had chosen until she saw it on the day, so it was a wonderful surprise for her. I thought it was such a thoughtful choice, and to me, it felt like a sweet nod to Amy being Steven’s “rose from Aberdeen.” It’s little touches like this that make a wedding feel so personal and full of meaning.
A Surprise Announcement
The surprises didn’t stop there. During the speeches, Steven made an announcement that had everyone on their feet. His speech started out as a typical groom’s speech, thanking everyone and sharing some stories, but he saved the best for last.
Right at the end, Steven shared the incredible news that he and Amy are expecting a baby! Amy stood up holding a tiny baby grow and their scan photo, and the entire room erupted into cheers. There were so many tears of happiness, hugs, and applause—it was such an emotional moment for everyone.
What made this even more special for me as their photographer was that I knew the surprise was coming. Amy and Steven let me in on their secret, so I was ready with my camera to capture all those priceless reactions. After dinner, we went outside to take some photos with the baby grow and scan photo. I loved how these images turned out, and I know they’ll be such a treasured memory for years to come.
A Day Full of Joy
Amy and Steven’s wedding at Thainstone House was truly unforgettable. From the adorable moments with Benji and Ember to the personal touches like the crazy golf and Steven’s tartan surprise, every part of the day felt so thoughtful and full of love. And of course, the baby announcement was the perfect way to cap it all off.
