Why I Dress Smart For Your Wedding Day As Your Wedding Photographer

When you book a wedding photographer, you’re looking for someone to capture your day beautifully, but also someone who blends in with your favourite people, knows when to step forward, and when to quietly step back. How I show up, quite literally, is super important to me.

So, let’s talk about clothes.

Your wedding day is a big deal. It’s not just “another job” in my diary. You’ve likely spent months (maybe even years) planning this day down to the little details, from the outfits, the venue and overall atmosphere. It’s one of the most important days in your lives, and for me as your wedding photographer, dressing smart is one of the ways I show respect for that.

I’m Not Just There With a Camera

I’m there as part of your day. In the room with your family during prep, standing at the top of the aisle alongside your nearest and dearest, and blending into the dancefloor crowd with your pals while still catching every laugh, hug and happy tear.

In all of those moments, I want to show up in a way that reflects the care and effort you’ve put into your day, without ever distracting from it!

Respecting the Occasion

Weddings are exciting, layered and emotional days full of meaning and people you love.

Dressing smart is a way of acknowledging that. Every wedding, you’ll find me in a smart shirt, waistcoat, trousers and my trusted brogues (they’ve seen many a dance floor and stood the test of long days on my feet).

Blending In With the Day

I also dress smart to blend in. Your guests shouldn’t be distracted by me, I want to feel like a familiar face! When I look like part of the party, people tend to relax around me, which is when I get those amazing shots you’ll love looking back on.

I love when guests chat to me like I’m one too, and honestly, that’s exactly the vibe I’m going for. Friendly, approachable and calm, but always quietly working away in the background.

A Thoughtful Approach, Always

At the end of the day, it’s about care. I care about your wedding experience, about the photos we create together, and about the impression I leave on your guests and your family. Dressing thoughtfully is just one small part of that bigger picture.

The small things are what make your wedding ‘yours’. And showing up feeling good, comfortable, and considered is a big part of how I do my job!
