Keira and Paul’s Outdoor Wedding at Ballogie House

Keira and Paul’s wedding at Ballogie House was such an amazing day, and I’m still smiling thinking about it. Honestly, from start to finish, it was just brilliant. If you’ve never been to this Aberdeen wedding venue, it’s this gorgeous exclusive-use house less than one hour’s drive from Aberdeen, and I’ve got to say, it’s stunning. The best part is that couples can stay there for a few days with their family and friends, which makes everything feel so relaxed and intimate.

A Sunny Start (With a Wee Bit of Trouble)

The morning started off perfectly – Keira was getting ready inside Ballogie House with her bridesmaids, and there was such a great energy in the room. I popped in and out to capture some of those moments, and you could tell everyone was buzzing. Meanwhile, Paul and the boys were down in one of the lodges, and from what I saw, they were having a grand time getting ready too. Everything was going well and according to plan, but we did get word that the bus bringing the guests was stuck behind a road accident. Thankfully, it wasn’t involved, but it did mean we had to delay the ceremony a wee bit.

Once the guests finally arrived, we jumped straight into the outdoor ceremony, and let me tell you, the setting was stunning. Even though it was a bit windy, the sun was shining, and the backdrop of Royal Deeside hills and the River Dee nearby was just perfect. I couldn’t get enough of the beautiful floral arch, and the flowers along the aisle gave the whole scene such a romantic, garden vibe. It felt like something out of a fairytale.

A Quaich Ceremony and a Poem

One of the sweetest parts of the ceremony was when Keira’s friend, Megan, read a heartfelt poem which she wrote especially for the newlyweds. It was such a personal touch, and I could see how much it meant to both Keira and Paul. They also included a traditional quaich ceremony, where the couple shared their first drink together from the loving cup. Keira and Paul invited their dads to join in, and then the bridal party boys took part as well. It was a really fun and meaningful moment, and everyone was loving it!

Drinks, Games, and Golden Hour Adventures

After the ceremony, everyone headed into the drinks reception, where guests enjoyed cocktails, canapés, and garden games. Paul had even made some of the games himself using whisky staves, which I thought was such a cool personal touch. There were plenty of laughs as everyone got competitive with the games, and I snuck Keira and Paul away for some couple photos around the beautiful grounds of Ballogie House.

Later, we took a wee adventure down to Potarch, a gorgeous spot nearby with a beautiful bridge and the River Dee running underneath. Keira was an absolute legend, kicking off her shoes to walk barefoot along the pebbly beach, and the golden hour light was just perfect. We climbed up on the rocks for some shots, and they turned out amazing – definitely one of my favourite parts of the day.

Dancing the Night Away

The evening kicked off with a family-style feast in the marquee, and let me tell you, it was delicious! Guests helped themselves to pulled pork rolls and salads, and for dessert, there were sharing boards made by a local talent, Torta by Katalin. The cake was super special. Lots of the guests had baked homemade treats like brownies, cupcakes and rocky road to mention a few. These were displayed on a whisky barrel style stand, also made by Paul and a sponge cake on top ready to cut. After dinner, the dance floor was packed as the band played all the 90s pop-rock hits that everyone knows and loves. The energy was through the roof, and the whole night was filled with laughter, dancing, and plenty of good vibes. It was the perfect end to an absolutely brilliant day at Ballogie House.
